Honda City vs Toyota Yaris 2026: Which Sedan Should You Buy?
Price, engine, fuel average, space, maintenance and resale compared — the honest answer to Pakistan's favourite sedan question.
Toyota Corolla vs Honda Civic is Pakistan's biggest car rivalry. They are the two most searched used cars in the country: in PakWheels' March 2026 report, the Corolla had almost 58 million searches and the Civic about 39 million. They were also the two most sold used cars in PakWheels' April 2026 report. Both are family sedans, but they suit very different buyers. This guide compares them on price, engine, fuel average, space, comfort, maintenance and resale, for new cars and for the used generations most people actually buy.

Most buyers in Pakistan buy these cars used, so it helps to know the generations:
| Car | Generation | Years in Pakistan | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toyota Corolla | 11th generation | 2014 – today | Same basic car for years, facelifted along the way. Parts are everywhere. |
| Honda Civic | 9th ("Rebirth") | 2012 – 2016 | 1.8L i-VTEC; a popular budget Civic |
| Honda Civic | 10th ("X") | 2016 – 2021 | Sporty fastback look; 1.8L, with a 1.5L turbo in the RS |
| Honda Civic | 11th | 2022 – today | 1.5L turbo in all variants, launched in March 2022 |
The Corolla has been the same generation in Pakistan since 2014. That means parts, panels and mechanics' know-how are cheap and easy to find, which is a big reason it holds value so well. If you are looking at a Corolla specifically, read our Corolla Altis 1.6 specs and buying guide.
The Civic is the driver's car. Its 1.5L turbo makes more torque low down (180 Nm), so it pulls strongly from low speeds and overtakes easily on the motorway. The RS, at about 176 hp, is one of the quickest locally made sedans. The steering is sharp and the car feels planted at speed.
The Corolla is the comfortable, easy-going car. The 1.6L is smooth and simple, and the 1.8L adds useful power for highway driving. The suspension is soft, which suits Pakistani roads, and the higher ground clearance (175 mm vs 154 mm) means fewer worries on speed breakers, village roads and broken patches. That makes a big difference in South Punjab.
| Car | Typical fuel average |
|---|---|
| Corolla 1.6 | About 12–14 km/l |
| Corolla 1.8 | About 10–12 km/l |
| Civic 1.5 Turbo (Standard/Oriel) | About 11–14 km/l |
The Corolla 1.6 is the most economical, especially on the highway. The Civic turbo can match it when driven gently, but heavy right-foot driving lowers its average quickly. Figures are typical and depend on traffic, AC use and driving style. Our summer car care tips can help you keep the average up.
The Corolla has the bigger boot (470 L vs 409 L) and a more upright cabin that is easy to get in and out of, which elderly family members appreciate. The Civic is longer (4,695 mm) and lower, so it looks sportier and has good rear legroom, but you sit lower and the boot opening is smaller. For a family that often travels with luggage, the Corolla is more practical.
This is where the Corolla wins clearly. Its parts are the cheapest and most widely available of any sedan in Pakistan, and every mechanic in Shujabad, Multan or any small town can work on it. The Civic is reliable too, but parts cost more, a turbo engine needs good quality oil changed on time, and repairs to body panels and lights cost more. If your budget is tight after buying the car, the Corolla is the safer choice.
Both hold value well, because they are the two most searched and most sold used cars in Pakistan. The Corolla is the most liquid sedan in the market: it sells fastest, in big cities and small towns alike, and dealers will always make an offer. The Civic has a loyal following and sells well too, especially clean Oriel and RS models, but it has a smaller pool of buyers because of its higher price. | Choose the Toyota Corolla if… | Choose the Honda Civic if… |
|---|---|
| You want the lowest running and repair costs | You want style and a sporty drive |
| You drive on rough or rural roads (higher ground clearance) | You drive mostly on good city roads and motorways |
| You want the easiest car to resell | You want a modern cabin and more power |
| You carry family and luggage often (bigger boot) | Your budget allows Rs 20–40 lakh more |
Our view: for most families in Shujabad and South Punjab, the Toyota Corolla is the smarter all-round choice. It is cheaper to buy, cheaper to run, comfortable on local roads and easy to sell. The Honda Civic is the better car if you enjoy driving, want a modern, premium feel and have the budget for it.

For most Pakistani families the Corolla is the better all-round choice because it is cheaper to buy, run and repair, and easiest to resell. The Civic is better if you want performance, modern styling and features, and can afford the higher price.
The Corolla 1.6 typically gives about 12–14 km/l and the Civic 1.5 Turbo about 11–14 km/l. Driven gently they are close, but the Corolla 1.6 is usually slightly more economical.
The Toyota Corolla starts at Rs 6,099,000 and the Corolla Altis Grande 1.8 is about Rs 7.67–7.71 million. The Honda Civic Standard is about Rs 8.5 million, the Oriel Rs 8,834,000 and the RS Rs 10,100,000.
The Toyota Corolla. It is the most searched and most sold used car in Pakistan, so it sells fastest. The Civic also holds value well, but has a smaller pool of buyers.
It costs more than a Corolla. Parts and body panels are more expensive, and turbo models need good quality oil changed on time, but a well-maintained Civic is reliable.
